The Atlanta Falcons have released offensive tackle Wanya Morris ahead of the NFL's 53-man roster deadline, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday afternoon. Morris was acquired by the Falcons in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs back in June.
Morris, a former third-round pick, was drafted by the Chiefs in 2023. During his three seasons in Kansas City (2023-2025), Morris appeared in 43 games (16 starts). He started 11 games for the Chiefs in 2024 but made just one start last season.
The Falcons signed former Chiefs right tackle Jawaan Taylor to replace Kaleb McGary at right tackle, but Morris was expected to serve as the team's swing tackle. Michael Jerrell seems to have taken over that swing tackle role, which explains why Morris was released.
