New England Patriots linebacker Elijah Ponder has the backing of new teammate Dre’Mont Jones this offseason.
According to CLNS’ Taylor Kyles, Jones lauded Ponder for his talent and situational awareness at the team’s second training camp practice of the offseason on Sunday.
He even took things a step further by suggesting the Patriots
"got a steal," and that Ponder was going to be a "hell of a player."Ponder signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2025. He worked his way into New England’s defensive rotation last season, appearing in 15 games with four sacks and four tackles for loss registered on the year. Ponder is in line to play behind Jones and Harold Landry on the edge in the rotation next season.

raved about the progress that Ponder has shown this offseason in June, touting his growth as a positive factor for the team. Jones’ co-sign adds to the favor that Ponder has found within the team’s ranks in the lead-up to next season, not only from the coaching staff, but also from his teammates as well.
