New England Patriots safety Brenden Schooler took part in Wednesday’s practice, signaling progress in his road to returning from the reserve/non-football injury list, via Patriots Wire's Sophie Weller.
Schooler has yet to play in a game this season due to the NFI designation. However, his participation in practice is an encouraging sign for New England, who continues to assess his readiness for a possible roster activation with the season now in full swing.
Given the NFI rules, Schooler would be eligible to return after missing at least the first four games of the season.
The veteran Schooler has made his mark on special teams. He is a former first-team All-Pro special teams performer from the 2024 season.

He played in 16 games in 2025 and recorded 19 total tackles for the Patriots that year. His potential return will give the Patriots another experienced option across their special teams units at a key point in the season.
The closest time that Schooler would be eligible to return would be New England's Week 5 matchup at home against the Las Vegas Raiders.
