New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson will not be available for Wednesday’s season-opening game against the Seattle Seahawks.
This was confirmed by the team in Tuesday's injury report.
Henderson has been dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered during practice back on August 24. He slipped and fell while attempting to cut on the run during a training camp session and has not returned since.
The Patriots were able to add depth to the position by acquiring Arizona Cardinals running back Corey Kiner in a trade. They also have a pair of viable No. 3 options on the practice squad with Hassan Haskins and Lan Larison.
With that said, losing Henderson is certainly an unfortunate development for the Patriots considering he made up a solid
one-two punch combination with Rhamondre Stevenson. His explosive playmaking abilities made him a home run threat every time he had the ball in his hands.
The Patriots will have to find that production elsewhere on the road against an elite Seahawks defense.
