The New England Patriots made several roster moves on Tuesday.
They announced that they have released linebacker Jose Ramirez. The team also signed cornerback Al'Zillion Hamilton and released offensive lineman Da'Metrius Weatherspoon from the practice squad.
Hamilton was signed by the Los Angeles Rams as a rookie free agent in April and was released by the team in August. He was a stout collegiate player, appearing in 54 games with 35 starts for Fresno State. He had 123 total tackles, eight interceptions, and 26 passes defensed.
The signing of Hamilton could be of significance, as the Patriots are struggling for depth at the cornerback position. Christian Gonzalez and Channing Canada missed Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills, and backup Charles
Woods got banged up but finished the game.
All of those injuries popped up a week after the team just got Carlton Davis III back from a neck injury. It has been a rough year for the Patriots' secondary from a health perspective, and Hamilton will have a chance to compete for a reserve role on the roster.
