FOXBOROUGH, Mass — The New England Patriots will have a new player starting at right guard on Sunday.
Head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters that it'll be veteran offensive lineman Ben Brown who will slot in, replacing Mike Onwenu and Greg Van Roten, who have both been placed on injured reserve.
"I would probably anticipate Ben Brown starting out there," Vrabel told reporters on Friday. "I think Walter [Rouse] will have to be ready to go. I think that we will see where we are with Matt Pryor coming over from Arizona, whether we feel like he could potentially help us at the game or be available for the game. I think that’s something that we still have to decide here as he works into the communication, the system, going on the road, and then if not,
we’ll have to look to elevate somebody potentially."
Since coming to the Patriots, Brown has played in a few different positions on the offensive line at both center and left guard. But now, he's moving to the right, and he's ready to go.
"I feel very prepared. I feel like it was a great week of practice, and I've played guard throughout my career, so I'm ready for whatever," Brown told Patriots Wire. "I'm excited for the opportunity, and I'm going to do my best out there to help the team win. Just do my job."
Brown also went into detail about what it takes to switch from the left side to the right.
"It's a little bit different, but all the coaches help us get ready during the week, and we kind of will move in multiple spots throughout the week, and everything like that, and so just make sure we're kind of constantly working in multiple positions," he explained. "So I feel good about it. I feel like it's a good week, and I'm ready to roll."
