Former New England Patriots defensive back and current NFL analyst Jason McCourty believes Patriots receiver A.J. Brown is going to have a monster season with something to prove.
McCourty laid out his line of thinking during an appearance on ESPN’s "Get Up."
“I think he’s going scorched Earth in his revenge tour. He’s gonna be like that bad kid in the summer who's been forced to stay inside and do summer reading," McCourty said on Brown. "Well now, he’s coming back to the playground to reassert his dominance. Being moved off from by Philadelphia, traded to the New England Patriots, he's going to be with a superstar quarterback in Drake Maye and an offensive coordinator in Josh McDaniels that knows how to get the ball in positions to succeed."
Brown was the marquee offseason addition for the Patriots' organization.
The move had been hinted at for months before the trade finally went down in early June. Brown's frustrations boiled over during the 2025 season in Philly, as the offense struggled to move the ball through the air. Now, the three-time All-Pro wideout is looking to turn the page with an opportunity to play for his childhood favorite team.
A revenge tour kind of season would be a nice return on the Patriots' investment. Even in a down year last season, Brown was still able to record 1,003 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
A more motivated Brown in this Patriots offense could be scary for the rest of the NFL.
