New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown is still viewed highly despite being in line to miss multiple weeks due to injury.
Pro Football Focus ranked Brown No. 6 overall in their latest wide receiver power rankings following Week 1, reinforcing his reputation as one of the NFL’s premier players at the position.
“Brown was targeted four times in his Patriots debut, catching three passes for 26 yards before an ankle injury ended his night,” PFF’s Gordon McGuinness wrote. “He has since been placed on injured reserve and will miss at least four weeks.”
Brown earned placement despite going down with an ankle injury in his Patriots debut against the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. He went for 26 receiving yards on three receptions
in the loss.
His longest reception was for 14 yards, though he did not score a touchdown. Although his production was limited by the early exit, his involvement in the Patriots’ passing game was as the expected primary option on the field.
With Brown sidelined, he will lose the opportunity to build statistics, produce in high-profile matchups and maintain momentum against active receivers competing for the same spots. When he returns, his ability to quickly regain his form will be important to both the Patriots’ offense and to his standing among the league’s top wideouts.
