The Drake Maye scoring parade wasn't a one-week affair, as the third-year quarterback lit up the Las Vegas Raiders in Foxborough on Sunday.
After hanging 29 points on the Buffalo Bills last week, the New England Patriots' offense continued the dramatic turnaround by putting up 45 points against the visiting Raiders. Led by Maye, who had a season-high 374 passing yards and four touchdowns, the Patriots dominated on the field like they had turned the clock back to the 2025 season.
Maye entered the game without his top deep threat targets, A.J. Brown and Mack Hollins, but it proved to be no problem for the 24-year-old gunslinger. He connected with second-year wide receiver Kyle Williams on two big plays, including a 49-yard reception and 34-yard
touchdown. Throw in the rushing touchdown, and Maye was responsible for five touchdowns for New England in the game.
It was raining dimes for Maye at Gillette Stadium.
By the end of the game, the Patriots had 536 yards of total offense against a Raiders defense that had no answers. It's important to note that Patriots left tackle Will Campbell and running back TreVeyon Henderson left the game with injuries and never returned. Campbell was seen at one point standing on the sidelines with his helmet on, like he was going to come back into the game. So those are two injuries to definitely keep an eye on for next week.
As for the Patriots' defense, the unit played lights out, despite being down four corners, including Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis III, Channing Canada and Karon Prunty. They shut down running back Ashton Jeanty and got pressure on Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins.
The unlikely heroes were edge rusher Elijah Ponder, who had two sacks and three quarterback hits in the game, and cornerback Kindle Vildor, who had four tackles, one pass deflection and a forced fumble. Credit goes to Patriots defensive coordinator Zak Kuhr for having the unit ready, despite being shockingly shorthanded.
With the win, the Patriots have now improved to 3-2 on the season with a divisional game against the New York Jets slated for next week in Foxborough.
