The New England Patriots are set to take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.
The Dolphins have a ton of young talent to begin building their franchise around. One of the players is rookie defender Jacob Rodriguez, who has already cemented himself as a cornerstone player for Miami at the linebacker position.
Rodriguez has recorded 61 total tackles and an interception this season. He is a tackling machine with a nose for the ball. He's simply one of those defensive players who always seems to be in the right place at the right time.
The Patriots could use a well-rounded young linebacker to spark the defense at the middle level. With Robert Spillane turning 31 years old later this year, it's a position the team might have to consider reinvesting
in at some point. A player like Rodriguez would give them a reliable option to contribute for years to come.
Imagine a player of that caliber flying all over the field alongside Christian Elliss. That tandem would add a speed element to the defense that hasn't been seen in years.
With that said, the Patriots will have to find ways to deal with the Dolphins' athletic and talented young linebacker in Sunday's game. It will be a surefire test for quarterback Drake Maye behind a banged-up offensive line and inconsistent rushing attack.
