After holding out throughout the spring, New England Patriots edge rusher Gabe Jacas has finally signed his rookie contract.
The 2026 second-round draft pick missed OTAs and minicamp after remaining unsigned following the 2026 NFL Draft. Patriots coach Mike Vrabel expressed confidence that a deal would get done on Friday, before things quickly came together on Day 1 of training camp.
It was reported that Jacas had signed a four-year, $8.6 million deal, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The agreed-upon contract brings an end to the weird stalemate between the two sides. There were concerns that Jacas wouldn't get to play in 2026.

With Jacas finally under contract, the Patriots can now focus on getting the former Illinois defender up to speed with the defense.
There will be a lot of catching up to do on Jacas' end considering he missed the early on-field work, most notably in the classroom. It isn't as simple as plugging and playing for a rookie with no NFL experience.
However, when he's fully up to speed, Jacas is a player that the Patriots are confident can help them win football games.
