The New England Patriots announced their team captains on Tuesday.
Safety Kevin Byard, tight end Hunter Henry, cornerback Marcus Jones, quarterback Drake Maye, right tackle Morgan Moses and linebacker Robert Spillane were all named 2026 captains.
It's a solid veteran group featuring a newcomer in Byard, a three-time All-Pro defensive back. He has already stepped up as a vocal leader both on and off the field in his short time with the Patriots.
This will be the fourth time Henry has been a captain in New England, spanning from 2023-onward. He's a longtime respected veteran in the locker room and one of Maye's favorite receiving targets. Spillane was a team captain last season, while this is Moses' first time receiving the honor in New England.
Jones was a team captain last season, along with Spillane, and he'll look to continue serving as a respected locker room leader in 2026.
Meanwhile, Maye is an obvious choice as the franchise quarterback. He played a major role in helping turn the Patriots franchise around from a 4-13 team to a Super Bowl contender. The team will need his leadership to continue to grow if they hope to become a perennial championship contender.

Overall, this is a solid group of captains for a Patriots team looking to make another deep run in the playoffs. They will have their work cut out for them with a significantly harder schedule than the one they had last year.
