Former New England Patriots quarterback Joe Milton signed with the Philadelphia Eagles off the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad on Friday, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
It was a move that served as a direct response to Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts being out for Sunday's Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers. Milton was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He played in one regular-season game for the team before being traded to the Cowboys in 2025.
After serving as the top backup quarterback, Milton lost his job to Sam Howell over the summer at training camp. He signed to the practice squad after being released by the Cowboys.

With Hurts sidelined, Milton will join Tanner McKee and Cole Payton in the quarterbacks room in Philadelphia. His physical attributes still stand out every time he is on the football field. At the very least, he'll have a chance to compete and potentially even aid the Eagles in trying to keep the ship afloat until Hurts returns.
