New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry still has faith that Romeo Doubs can make an impact at wide receiver for the team.
Doubs had zero catches on three targets, including a key drop that would have converted a major first down late in the Week 1 opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
After the game, Doubs admitted that he "wasn't locked in" on a night when A.J. Brown got injured and the entire offensive unit fell flat.
“Rome’s made play after play after play," Henry said on Doubs, when appearing on Jones & Keefe. "We’ve seen him since he’s been here. He’s made a ton of plays in this league. We got a ton of confidence in Rome, man. He’s a heck of a receiver and I’m glad we have him on our team.
"I’m excited to see him go back out there and play
this weekend, and be able to fly around with him again. There’s not much that needs to be said. We got so much faith in that guy. He’s continued to show us that week in and week out throughout training camp, throughout practices, and I’ve seen it on tape too with what he did with the Packers.”
With Brown sidelined for at least the next four games, the Patriots will depend on Doubs and others to step up their level of play. It all starts on Sunday with the team playing host to the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers.
It will be the chance for the Patriots to right the ship and spark hope in an offense that showed little to no life against Seattle.
