The New England Patriots take on the Las Vegas Raiders this week, and the Raiders have plenty of offensive weapons. So for this week’s Gimme Him, receiver Tre Tucker would be the selection.
Tucker has 15 catches for 233 yards and a touchdown so far this season. He is proving to be an explosive weapon, averaging 15.5 yards per reception.
The speedster is very much a boom-or-bust player. Take the first two games of the season for example. The Raiders opened against the Miami Dolphins, and Tucker caught two of four targets for 27 yards. However, the following week, the playmaker recorded five receptions on seven targets for 119 yards and a touchdown.
He is coming off a season last year that saw him record 57 receptions for 696 yards and five touchdowns.
It was a career year for him, and it established him as a valuable piece of the Raiders' offense.
Tucker would fill a major need for the Patriots as a speedy playmaking wide receiver. Granted, the Patriots potentially have that already with second-year wide receiver Kyle Williams, but Tucker is the more proven player at this point in his career.
At least 35 percent of Tucker's total career targets come on passes thrown 20-plus yards downfield, per Pro Football Focus. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye loves to push the ball downfield, and a player with Tucker's skill set would be a tremendous match for the young gunslinger.
This isn't exactly the flashiest of picks, but given the state of the Patriots, with both A.J. Brown and Mack Hollins sidelined with injuries, it makes sense for the team.
