The New England Patriots are fielding one of the youngest teams in the NFL this season.

According to Bleacher Report, the Patriots have the seventh-youngest roster in the league in average age with an average roster age of 26.06 years old.

The Patriots drafted rookies Caleb Lomu (21) and Gabe Jacas (22) as new staples of their offensive line and edge rusher unit. They also have several other rookies serving in various roles that contribute to the youthfulness of the roster.

New England’s new No. 1 wide receiver A.J. Brown (29) is considerably younger than the team’s former No. 1 receiver from last season, Stefon Diggs (32), and rookie Eli Raridon (22) is the the team’s new backup tight end in place of Austin Hooper (31).

New England’s young roster

is reflective of the direction that the team has moved in after advancing to the Super Bowl at the end of last season. They are looking to build and develop young talent to remain a perennial contender.
