New England Patriots rookie linebacker Gabe Jacas has been fined $8,744 following a late hit on Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
The penalty occurred when Jacas delivered a forceful hit on Williams from behind in the second quarter, well after he had thrown the ball. The officials immediately flagged Jacas for a penalty, which gave Chicago additional yardage and an opportunity to extend its offensive possession.
Despite the infraction and fine imposed, Jacas has continued to develop during his rookie year, contributing to New England's defensive rotation. Through seven games played thus far this year, he has registered 21 combined tackles, 1.5 sacks and one interception, providing versatility as both a pass rusher and run defender.
Jacas
and the Patriots’ attention is now focused on their upcoming matchup against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. New England will look to bounce back from its loss to Chicago last week, while Jacas will aim to put together a disciplined performance and continue making an impact defensively. Avoiding costly penalties will be particularly important against Miami.
