The New England Patriots have a wide open window to make a significant push to trade for Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor in a potential deal that will benefit both franchises.
Taylor is reportedly on the trade block, with Indianapolis making it clear that the organization is willing to entertain offers for its star running back. A deal with New England might give Indianapolis an opportunity to reshape its offensive backfield while bringing in multiple assets for the future.
A proposed deal of Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson in exchange for Taylor and either a Colts offensive lineman or wide receiver Deion Burks will service both teams greatly.
Taylor has rushed for 587 yards and an NFL-leading eight touchdowns this
season. His best season came in 2021, when he led the league in rushing yards with 1,811 yards, as well as rushing touchdowns with 18. A four-time 1,000-yard rusher, Taylor brings explosiveness and game-changing ability to the field that would be a huge lift for the Patriots' offense.
Stevenson, meanwhile, has rushed for 285 yards and two touchdowns this season, and he has also recorded 204 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. As a former 1,000-yard rusher, he would give Indianapolis an experienced, productive option alongside Henderson in the ground game.
Henderson nearly reached 1,000 rushing yards in 2025, as he finished with 911 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. He currently has 203 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown to his name this year.
In all, the combination of Stevenson and Henderson would offer Indianapolis a seasoned veteran and a young ball-carrier with star potential to gain in exchange for one of the game’s best, and for New England, an elite player to potentially win it all with at the end of the season.
