New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs took full responsibility for his dropped pass in the fourth quarter of the team’s 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in their season opener on Wednesday.
According to the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan, Doubs stated to the media after the game that he needed to be more focused in the moment.
“I just wasn't locked in enough,” Doubs said. “That's all. Video speaks for itself. And like I said, I'll be better.”
Doubs had a chance to turn a wide open look into a significant gain when Patriots star quarterback Drake Maye found him open near the sideline midway through the fourth quarter.
However, Doubs had a poor drop on the play, not securing the throw, and leaving New England in a difficult situation tied
with Seattle late in the game. Seattle capitalized soon afterward, and went on to come from behind for the 13-10 win.
Doubs was not a factor in the game overall, as he was held without a catch in his New England debut, but he remains confident in the offense and its ability to respond.
The Patriots will look for a cleaner performance next week as Doubs works to rebound from a down performance in his first outing of the year.
