The New England Patriots revealed on Saturday that they are elevating safety Mike Brown and cornerback Kindle Vildor from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.
Adding more depth in the secondary was expected given the uptick in injuries the team has dealt with at both the safety and cornerback positions. Starting safety Craig Woodson is questionable to play in Week 4 after missing last week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Backup safety Dell Pettus is also on injured reserve.
At cornerback, the Patriots are missing one of their best defenders, star defensive back Christian Gonzalez, who is currently dealing with a shoulder injury.
However, the real question mark for the Patriots is whether they'll have enough
on the defensive front to stave off the Bills' elite rushing attack. Veteran defensive tackle Christian Barmore has been ruled out for the game, and the team will be down to Milton Williams, Cory Durden, Joshua Farmer, DaQuan Jones and Leonard Taylor.
It creates a real problem when dealing with both quarterback Josh Allen and All-Pro running back James Cook. With multiple key pieces missing, the Patriots' defense has concerns at every level heading into Orchard Park.
