"Thank you Lord. Pats nation lets go," Gonzalez posted in an Instagram story.

The
Patriots have long been viewed as a team unwilling to go to a certain point in contract negotiations. However, they drafted and helped develop Gonzalez into arguably the best cornerback in the NFL.
And on Tuesday morning, they rewarded him with a historic contract extension. It sends a strong message in the locker room that the team is willing to go above and beyond to reward players for producing on the field. That not only inspires current players to want to play for the Patriots, but it also ensures that future free agents view New England as an attractive destination.
