The New England Patriots had a surprise addition to their injury report on Wednesday. Two weeks after returning, star wide receiver A.J. Brown was back on the report with an ankle injury.
He still participated in practice, but he was listed as limited during the session.
Despite his willingness to return after only four weeks, Brown has been dealing with a high ankle sprain that he suffered in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. It's a tough injury that can take upwards of six-plus weeks to completely heal from.
Brown has struggled to produce on the football field since returning. He mustered only three catches for 27 yards against the New York Jets and three catches for 48 yards against the Chicago Bears, while accumulating multiple
dropped balls and missed blocking assignments.

It hasn't looked great for a player the Patriots spent a 2027 fifth-round draft pick and 2028 first-round pick on in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Brown's status throughout the week will be worth monitoring as the team prepares to face another AFC East rival in the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The team is also missing Romeo Doubs and Mack Hollins. So losing Brown would make them the most shorthanded they've been at receiver all season.
