The New England Patriots suffered multiple injuries in Sunday’s hard-fought victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a result, new faces filled roles in a difficult situation.
Right guard Mike Onwenu suffered a leg injury that is potentially season-ending
after the game. Veteran offensive lineman Greg Van Roten stepped up as the replacement, and he will likely remain in that role if Onwenu misses significant time.Edge rusher Dre'Mont Jones was also ruled out after a Steelers offensive lineman landed on his shoulder while attempting to recover a fumble. The Patriots lost rookie tight end Eli Raridon in the second quarter to a thigh injury and safety Dell Pettus to an ankle injury on special teams.
Cornerback Marcus Jones also left the game with
an injury at one point, but he returned after taking a breather.
