FOXBOROUGH, Mass — During Sunday's game, the New Englad Patriots were hit with more bad luck on the injury front as two key starters departed early and did not return.
Offensive tackle Will Campbell suffered a knee injury; NFL Network reported shortly after the game that it was a sprain, and he will have an MRI on Monday to confirm. The report added that he is expected to "miss some time."
However, when asked about Campbell on Monday and whether this would sideline him for a bit, Vrabel wasn't willing to say anything definitively.
"We'll see how the week goes. It'll get looked at and continue to rehab," the head coach explained. "Wasn't able to finish the game, so I mean, I don't know how much time he'll miss, if he'll be back towards the end of
the week. If he'll be back Wednesday. But we'll take it day by day and see how he feels tomorrow. See what he does Wednesday and keep you updated on the injury report."
The injury to Campbell's knee is on the same one in which he suffered a torn MCL last season.
Then, there's running back TreVeyon Henderson, who left with an ankle injury. Vrabel explained that he's in the same boat as Campbell, with them having to wait and see the severity.
"We'll evaluate here and see how it looks," Vrabel said. "Wasn't able to finish the game, and if we see that on Wednesday he's going to be limited, he's going to be limited, and then we'll let you know he'll be limited."
2026 first-round pick Caleb Lomu replaced Campbell at the left tackle spot and will likely remain there if Campbell can't play. As for running back, with Henderson out, it was increased snaps for Corey Kiner, as well as Rhamondre Stevenson taking on an even bigger role.
"I know that those two players will do everything that they can to get back, but unfortunately, they weren't able to finish the game," Vrabel said of Campbell and Henderson. "So I don't know what their availability will be just less than 24 hours after the game."
