New England Patriots cornerback Carlton Davis III voiced unwavering support for quarterback Drake Maye after the team’s 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Davis stated that he is sure within himself that Maye is the team’s capable leader despite Maye throwing three interceptions in his down performance against Seattle, per CLNS.
“All the confidence in the world in Drake,” Davis said. “He’s our guy. We’re gonna stick together right now. We move forward.”
Maye had high moments in the game that were trumped by his three interceptions. Despite finding Eli Raridon in the end zone for a touchdown, picking up yards on the ground on multiple runs, and throwing a couple of sound throws to receivers that were not
reeled in for receptions, Maye’s turnovers were ultimately major factors in the loss, as well as other situational slip-ups that he was capable of avoiding.
Nevertheless, Maye remains the focal point of the Patriots’ offense. New England will look to rebound from the loss to Seattle in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
