New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell spoke with reporters following the scary knee injury he suffered in last week's game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
According to Patriots Wire's Sophie Weller, Campbell said that he was going to do some stuff at practice on Wednesday. Granted, that doesn't mean a return is imminent or that he'll be able to play in Sunday's game against the New York Jets. But the fact that he plans on participating in practice at any extent is good news for the Patriots.
Campbell walked off the field under his own power after getting rolled up on during a play against the Raiders. He later returned to the sidelines and was seen riding the stationary bike at one point.
But he never returned to the game.
With Campbell
sidelined, the Patriots turned to rookie first-round draft pick Caleb Lomu to fill in at left tackle. Lomu has spent most of his time preparing on the right side as the top backup for veteran Morgan Moses, but he has left-side versatility from his college days.
He filled in admirably when coming in as a reserve player, but it would be a different challenge entirely if he were expected to start in Week 6.
