The New England Patriots allowed the Seattle Seahawks to storm back from a 10-0 deficit and come away with a 13-10 win in their season opener on Wednesday night.
A.J. Brown went down with an injury midway through the game for New England, cutting his Patriots debut short. Drake Maye had a down performance in the game, throwing three interceptions that contributed toward the loss.
As a team, the Patriots won the time of possession battle, having held the ball for 34:17, as well as the penalty battle 7-10. On the other side of the token, New England averaged 4.7 yards per pass to Seattle’s 7.2, which was also telling considering the fact that Seattle lost Sam Darnold to injury for nearly the entire game and had backup quarterback Drew Lock fill
in for him.
For Seattle, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp and the Seahawks’ run game did enough to help the team squeeze by with the victory, giving the Patriots ample film to review and learn from moving forward.
