The New England Patriots announced multiple roster moves on Wednesday, including the signing of veteran tight end Shane Zylstra to the practice squad. They also waived safety Eric Butler and wide receiver Kimmy Kibble from injured reserve.
Zylstra originally came to the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in 2021. He has also spent time on the Detroit Lions' practice squad for four seasons. He has appeared in 35 games with six starts and has eight receptions for 136 yards.
Most recently, he signed with the Buffalo Bills as an unrestricted free agent on May 12, but he was shortly released on May 29.
These moves come exactly a week before the Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks in the regular season opener. The Patriots have
been searching for depth at the tight end position, and Zylstra could be an option to help out in that area.
