New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels talked about Drake Maye being named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October.
He had a measured reaction to the third-year quarterback's individual award.
“That’s something to be proud of for Drake. I always look at those things as team achievements," McDaniels told media members. "Certainly nobody’s going to win an individual award in football without all the guys that do their jobs around him. So, I think you celebrate that as a group.
“He’s certainly deserving of it, and a lot of credit to him for just kind of improving as September finished and got into the next month of the season. A lot of little things he did better, and hopefully we can continue to do that.”

Maye bounced back from a rough September and was able to play at a high level throughout October.
He led the team to a 3-1 record, throwing for 1,199 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions. His touchdowns and 119 overall passer rating ranked first in the NFL for the month. He accounted for at least three touchdowns in all four of his games.
October was a solid building block for Maye and the Patriots. The team got back on track and reentered the conversation as expected playoff contenders.
Maye is once again viewed as one of the league's best young quarterbacks, reminiscent of last year, when he was the runner-up for the 2025 NFL MVP award.
