New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas talked about the differences between playing under Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel.
Douglas was drafted by Belichick in 2023 and quickly ascended into a key complementary role in the Patriots' wide receiver room. That isn't typical for a Patriots team that has had a lot of misses when drafting wide receivers. Even with Belichick gone, Douglas has continued to find a role under Vrabel with quarterback Drake Maye throwing him the ball.
He hauled in four catches for 65 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots' 45-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders last week.
“With Bill. ...I feel like I was walking through the halls like sweating. I’d be scared to talk to Bill," Douglas said, via Destroying YouTube
channel. "But like Vrabes, man, is a player-coach. He’s been through it, he done done it, so he knows.”
Vrabel and Belichick are clearly coaches with different styles.
Belichick ran a tighter ship in New England, and the team won six Super Bowls as a result. Vrabel is more of a player's coach, and the team went to the Super Bowl in his first year as head coach. Both styles have produced results for the Patriots.
