New England Patriots wide receiver DeMario Douglas believes that teammate A.J. Brown is poised to have a big performance Thursday night against the Chicago Bears.
According to the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed, Douglas recently expressed confidence that Brown will rise to the occasion in Week 7.
“I can't wait. I know it's due,” Douglas said of Brown potentially going off.
Brown spent four weeks on injured reserve, missing Weeks 2-5 before returning to the lineup in Week 6. He recorded three receptions for 27 yards on 10 targets in his return against the New York Jets. Although his numbers were modest, akin to the 26 receiving yards he registered in Week 1, the Patriots will hope for increased production from him as he works to find his rhythm.
His return
provides New England with another opportunity to establish its passing attack in Week 7 as the unit has been on a roll over the course of the last three weeks.
The Patriots will face a Bears team that has allowed 1,368 passing yards and nine passing touchdowns to opponents through six games this season. Those numbers offer Brown and the Patriots an opportunity to generate more offense, particularly if the veteran receiver capitalizes on his targets and delivers the breakout performance Douglas anticipates.
