New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said Monday that the team might have veteran guard Greg Van Roten and safety Dell Pettus back at practice this week, per Patriots Wire’s Sophie Weller.
Both players are eligible to return from injured reserve, giving New England potential reinforcements for the road ahead. A return to practice would mark a step toward a potential return to play.
Van Roten has appeared in three games this season, providing depth for the Patriots along their offensive line. He has yet to allow a sack or quarterback hit and has permitted three pressures this year. His potential return will give New England another option at guard as the team deals with several injuries at the position, including to Mike Onwenu and Alijah
Vera-Tucker.
Pettus has appeared in two games this season for New England and has recorded two total tackles on the year. His return will provide additional depth for the Patriots in their secondary and on special teams.
New England will have an opportunity to evaluate both players if they resume practicing this week before determining whether either is ready to return to the active roster.
