Sunday's game between the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers could get messy in the second half.
As of right now, there's a chance that the skies could open up with rainfall in Foxborough, turning the Week 2 matchup into a wet battle in the final two quarters of the game.
Clouds and rain will increase by Sunday afternoon in the Boston area. There could be an increase in showers as the rain moves eastward through the afternoon and evening during the second half. The AFC matchup is slated to start at 1:00 p.m. ET with the temperature set at 60 degrees.
"For the start of the Patriots game, we could be OK despite all the menacing clouds in place. Showers increase as they shift eastward through the late afternoon and evening for the second
half of the game," StormTeam 5 Meteorologist Kelly Ann Cicalese said.
The weather could have an impact on the passing attacks for both teams. So this could be a situation where running the football and protecting the ball might mean the difference between winning and losing.
The Patriots will be looking to pick up their first win of the season after falling short against the Seattle Seahawks in the opener. Meanwhile, the Steelers could stack their second consecutive victory after defeating the Atlanta Falcons last week.
