New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye understands that a win over the Seattle Seahawks in the team’s season opener will not make the two teams even after Seattle defeated them in the Super Bowl at the end of last season.
According to Patriots Wire's Sophie Weller, Maye stated to reporters after practice on Saturday that the Patriots
’ Week 1 matchup against the Seahawks will not be a revenge game."They won the big one, and we get to start the season off, and you can’t get that game back that we lost. So we’re onto something new," Maye said.
The Patriots will travel to Seattle for Wednesday’s opener, giving them an immediate opportunity to face the team that ended their season last February. While the Super Bowl loss remains part of the team's
recent history, the Patriots have a clean slate and new-look roster to take into the matchup this year.
Maye and the Patriots have a game plan to execute, and beginning the season on a strong note by defeating the Seahawks will set the tone for them moving forward.
For Maye, the goal is straightforward: prepare, play and move forward.
