President Donald Trump named the New England Patriots as one of his three Super Bowl favorites in the upcoming NFL season.
The topic came up during the 2026 Patriot Games, an inaugural event aimed at celebrating the 250th anniversary of America's independence.
"Maybe I'll pick a few. I think New England looks good. I think the Giants, I like their quarterback a lot. I think they say the LA Rams are looking very strong," Trump said. "But I better not get into this too much, I'm gonna get myself into trouble if I do. But I think you have a lot of good teams."
The Patriots have greatly improved their roster since their improbable Super Bowl run last season. Quarterback Drake Maye, the 2025 NFL MVP runner-up, should be even better in his third year
with the team, and he'll have an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions.
The team signed veteran wide receiver Romeo Doubs in free agency, and they agreed to a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to land three-time All-Pro wideout A.J. Brown. They have also worked hard to upgrade the offensive line in the offseason.
Couple that with a returning top-10 defensive unit and the Patriots should still be viewed as a viable AFC threat in 2026.
