New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel didn't mince words when describing quarterback Drake Maye's interception in the red zone late in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Patriots were down 14-3, and they had a chance to retake the momentum on the road at EverBank Stadium with a score at the end of the half. They would have also gotten the ball back at the start of the second half, with a chance to take the lead in the game.
However, Maye forced a pass to second-year receiver Efton Chism III, who was in no position to make a play. That led to the backbreaking interception and took potential points off the board for the Patriots.
The Jaguars would go on to win the game in a 35-6 blowout.
"It's a terrible decision,"
Vrabel flat-out admitted on The Greg Hill Show.
The scary part for the Patriots is that Maye has made questionable decisions that have led to turnovers in all three games this season. So far, the third-year quarterback has thrown only one touchdown pass and turned the ball over seven times.
It has been a disastrous start for the 2025 NFL MVP runner-up.
