The New England Patriots announced that they have elevated safety Mike Brown and defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms Jr. from the practice squad to the game-day roster Saturday.
This move reinforces the secondary and interior defensive line ahead of the Patriots' upcoming matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Brown has yet to play in a game for the Patriots this season. He most recently played in nine games for the Tennessee Titans last season, having recorded three total tackles that year. Brown has recorded two passes defensed for his career. His elevation gives New England additional flexibility at the safety slot against a talented Jaguars offense.
Pharms has also yet to play in a game this year for New England. The defensive tackle adds depth
along the interior and will be on hand to help the Patriots manage Jacksonville’s rushing attack and put pressure on Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence throughout the game in the event that he is called upon.
New England has one vacancy left on its 53-man roster. The open spot gives the club flexibility for a future transaction, including a waiver claim, free-agent signing or additional practice-squad elevation.
