New England Patriots safety Kevin Byard was impressed with quarterback Drake Maye’s performance in the team's 45-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
One throw in particular caught the veteran’s attention in a major way.
The throw came on a wheel route later in the game to rookie tight end Eli Raridon, who found a small opening behind a defender along the sideline. Maye put the ball in the perfect spot where only Raridon could get to it. It was one of several ridiculous throws that Maye made in a game where he threw for 374 passing yards and four touchdowns.
“That’s a dot. Golly. That’s a hell of a throw, boy," Byard said in a video posted to the Patriots' social media page. "That’s MVP Drake right there. That’s a dot. Aw man, that’s so pretty.
It’s like poetry in motion.”

It wasn't just Maye's best game of the season, but he had the best showing of his young NFL career against the Raiders. It came after he outdueled Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen at Orchard Park in Week 4.
As long as this version of Maye exists, the Patriots will always be a contender.
