There are reportedly concerns that New England Patriots longtime offensive lineman Mike Onwenu might miss the rest of the season with the leg injury that he suffered in the Week 2 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the news after the game on Sunday.
Onwenu was carted off the field after the gruesome injury, which was a result of getting his leg rolled up under a Steelers defender. It looked like a serious injury from the visual eye alone, but the Patriots will know more once medical imaging is done.
But the early tests have seemingly not been good.

Onwenu is arguably the Patriots' best offensive lineman. He has long been one of the best guards in the NFL, and his potential absence creates a serious void at the position. With Onwenu out, the Patriots will likely turn to veteran Greg Van Roten to step up as the new starter.
The good news is that Van Roten has plenty of starting experience in the NFL. So they won't be sacrificing experience with the change. But if Onwenu really is out for the season, it will be hard to replace the talent and security that he brought to the position on a weekly basis.
