The New England Patriots are reportedly waiving rookie seventh-round draft pick Jam Miller, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.

There was hope that the former Alabama running back would be the No. 3 option behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson in the backfield. He showed off a solid blend of speed and power over the summer with the Patriots. He also has serious upside and potential as a receiving back.

In his preseason debut, Miller had 14 carries for 55 yards against the Indianapolis Colts. He racked up 36 yards on 11 carries in his follow-up performance against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The writing was on the wall when the Patriots traded a 2028 seventh-round draft pick for former Arizona Cardinals running back Corey Kiner.

could potentially return to the Patriots as a member of the practice squad. He seems like a great candidate who would benefit from the extra work behind the scenes to acclimate to the next level.
