New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has emerged as a must-start fantasy football quarterback heading into Week 6 after delivering consecutive high-level performances that have strengthened his value for the remainder of the season.
Maye followed up a strong Week 4 outing in the Patriots’ win over the Buffalo Bills, which saw him throw for 269 yards and three touchdowns while adding 54 rushing yards, with an even bigger performance in Week 5. Against Las Vegas, he completed 26-of-34 passes for 374 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. He also rushed for 25 yards and a touchdown in New England’s 45-17 victory.
Through five games, Maye has completed 99-of-151 passes for 1,228 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. He
has added 161 rushing yards and a touchdown on 30 carries, providing additional fantasy value with his mobility.
Despite Maye leading the NFL in interceptions, he has only thrown one over the last two games while also being on a roll statistically. He offers a combination of passing production, touchdown potential and rushing ability that makes him an attractive option for fantasy managers.
Although turnovers remain a concern, Maye’s recent production and dual-threat ability make him a strong starting option for team managers to use moving forward. He was a quarterback who warranted consideration to be sat from Weeks 2-4, but those days may be behind him.
Fantasy team managers should confidently consider him a weekly starter beginning in Week 6 and for the foreseeable future.
