The New England Patriots will begin the 2026 NFL season with star linebacker Harold Landry on the physically unable to perform list, according to the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed.
That deprives the team of one of its two starting edge rushers to kick off the year.
Landry will be out for at least the first four weeks of next season as a result of the move. Landry led the Patriots in sacks last season with 8.5. He also recorded 10 tackles for loss, 19 quarterback hits and a forced fumble across 15 games played, 14 of which he started in for New England in 2025.
The Patriots will look to veteran Dre'Mont Jones, Elijah Ponder and even rookies Gabe Jacas and Quintayvious Hutchins, along with potentially even players on the practice squad, to help fill
the void that Landry leaves on the edge beginning in Week 1 of the season.
