FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – No. 11.
That jersey number holds a lot of fond memories in New England for obvious reasons, as Julian Edelman dominated as a member of the Patriots for 12 seasons. And during practices in preparation to play the Seattle Seahawks, a popular receiver has been spotted wearing No. 11.
And it's bringing up tons of nostalgia.
Mirroring Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Chism has been wearing a No. 11 jersey, and it's an honor he is enjoying immensely and not taking lightly.
"I think everyone in this building kind of knows what that number represents here, and it's cool I get to wear it for a little bit," Chism told Patriots Wire during a one-on-one conversation on Saturday. "Obviously, respect him and respect what he's done for the number as well."
Given Edelman's legacy inside Gillette Stadium, along with getting to work with Josh McDaniels, who was also the Patriots Hall of Famer's offensive coordinator, it's no surprise that Chism has watched film.
"We got so much resources with all the film. Like, we can go back and watch any clip that we want, any practice," Chism explained. "So, it's pretty cool getting to go back and study everything he's done and get to see what he does. It's pretty cool."
The second-year receiver has also enjoyed seeing all the positive reactions to his temporary new number on social media.
"It's awesome. I think we've got some of the best fans in the world," he added. "And so it's super cool to see how much they care and how much they pay attention to us and what we do on a day-to-day basis."
