New England Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins has been named the Week 4 NFLPA Community MVP after he hosted a “Special Olympics Family Field Day” for 125 athletes and their families.
Hollins is a longtime ambassador of Special Olympics, and funded the entire event himself, which included eight interactive sports stations, a photo booth, face painting, food, a live DJ and more.
“It is such an honor to be named this week’s NFLPA Community MVP,” Hollins said in the press release. “I am grateful to have been able to experience it with the Special Olympics community and continue building a relationship that means so much to me. None of this would have been possible without the help of so many outstanding volunteers and passionate people.”
Hollins
was supported by his teammates Julian Ashby, Bryce Baringer, Efton Chism and Tommy DeVito.
In recognition of Hollins' work, the NFLPA will be donating $10,000 to Free the Feet Foundation. Hollins will also be eligible, alongside the other Community MVPs for this season, to receive the NFLPA’s highest player honor for outstanding community service, which includes an additional $100,000 donation.
