Las Vegas Raiders star edge rusher Maxx Crosby was seen walking through the tunnel at Gillette Stadium, ahead of Sunday's game against the New England Patriots, wearing a Larry Bird Boston Celtics jersey.
It was an interesting choice of attire from a player who was tied up in rumors throughout the offseason as a possible trade target for the edge rusher-needy Patriots team. Crosby was ultimately traded to the Baltimore Ravens, but the deal fell through after a failed physical.
The Patriots' offensive line will have its hands full in trying to stave off the five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro edge rusher. Will Campbell had his struggles when going head-to-head against Crosby as a rookie last year, but the former LSU standout has drastically
improved since that first encounter.
His matchup against the veteran edge rusher could ultimately decide the game. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has played loose with the football all season, and Crosby can wreck the game if freed up to make plays in the offensive backfield.
With that said, it is clearly all about respect from Crosby on his trip to New England. Here's how social media reacted to the star defender wearing a Bird jersey:
