Former New England Patriots wide receiver Nick DeGennaro reportedly signed to the Washington Commanders' practice squad, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
DeGennaro was with the Patriots during training camp. He recorded five catches for 65 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets during the preseason. His only touchdown came against the Philadelphia Eagles in the preseason finale. He was released by the Patriots during their final roster cuts.
The Patriots signed DeGennaro as an undrafted free agent out of James Madison. He also played for the Richmond Spiders and the Maryland Terrapins. He is the second former Patriots wide receiver to join the Commanders, following Stefon Diggs in August.

The Commanders have dealt with multiple injuries, and DeGennaro could use this opportunity to catapult himself into a reserve role for the team. He showed a real connection with Patriots backup quarterback Tommy DeVito during training camp.
Perhaps a fresh opportunity is all that's needed to spark that initial progress and help him take things to the next level.
