New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye took the high road when asked about the postgame comments made by Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
The comments came after Maye led the Patriots on a game-winning drive that ended with a ridiculus one-handed touchdown catch by second-year wide receiver Efton Chism III. After the game, Gardner-Johnson called Chism an "elevated guy" who made a catch that "probably won't happen to him again."
Maye was asked if he had a response to that comment when appearing on WEEI's Rich and Ken with Ted Johnson.
"Nah, I won't say too much about that. I think, obviously, we got the last laugh yesterday, and we'll see them again down the road. So we'll see where it goes then," said Maye.
Patriots coach Mike Vrabel
took a different route when asked about Gardner-Johnson's comments.
“For a guy that's been on eight teams in four years? I mean, I guess he knows the drill," Vrabel said, when appearing on The Greg Hill Show.
The Patriots and Bills will see each other again later in the season in Week 13 at Gillette Stadium. Gardner-Johnson's comments should make for some great promotional material for the 2026 rematch in the always-anticipated AFC East rivalry.
