New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel commented on A.J. Brown's sluggish start since returning from the high ankle sprain that he suffered in Week 1.
Brown only mustered three catches for 27 yards in his return against the New York Jets in Week 6. It was a disappointing showing from the three-time All-Pro in his first game with the Patriots at Gillette Stadium.
Things didn't get any better for him in last week's loss to the Chicago Bears, who held him to three catches for 48 yards in the game.
"I thought he dropped a few passes, and then the other night there was a contested catch that I've seen him make those plays in the past," Vrabel said on The Greg Hill Show on Monday. "I've seen those plays get called for DPI, and I've seen those plays be good
plays by the defense down the field. I don't think anybody has to press here or anything else. I think we just have to get back into a rhythm offensively with the guys we have."
Maye and Brown built a strong connection that was on full display during the competitive team practices and scrimmages over the summer. So it isn't like we haven't seen the duo dominate on the football field.
But it hasn't been seen in an actual game setting yet.
Brown will have another shot at turning the corner when the team heads to South Beach on Sunday for a divisional AFC East showdown with the Miami Dolphins.
