The New England Patriots will host the Las Vegas Raiders at home on Sunday, looking to build on their dramatic win over the Buffalo Bills last week. However, the Raiders will arrive at Gillette Stadium with a 3-1 record and an offense capable of making Sunday’s matchup a close one.
Drake Maye is beginning to find his rhythm this season. Romeo Doubs now knows what it feels like to have a big game in the receiving yards and receiving touchdowns departments this year. The Patriots’ run game has been productive, and on defense, New England has not only gotten great production from their edge rushers, but as a unit, have limited opponents to 19 points per game.
The Raiders do pose a significant threat to the Patriots, as Las Vegas has greatly exceeded
expectations this season. Nevertheless, the Patriots approach a game that they will need to win to be on the right side of .500 moving forward, and the game figures to produce many storylines.
Here are three bold predictions for the Patriots’ upcoming matchup against the Raiders in Week 5.
1. Drake Maye delivers another big game
Maye will build on his standout Week 4 performance with another productive afternoon. Maye completed 22-of-37 passes for 269 yards, three touchdowns and one interception against Buffalo, while adding 54 rushing yards on eight attempts. He will again eclipse 250 passing yards and account for multiple touchdowns against Las Vegas.
2. Romeo Doubs sets a season high in receiving yards
Doubs will post his best performance of the season in the receiving yards department against Las Vegas. His connection with Maye showed promise against Buffalo, particularly in scoring situations, and the Patriots figure to continue to look his way on Sunday. Doubs’ current season-high is 96 yards, which he recorded in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will go for over 100 yards receiving in Week 5 and find the end zone again.
3. Raiders win a thriller
Las Vegas will make enough plays to edge New England in a narrow road victory. The Raiders average 28.75 points per game, giving them the offensive firepower to keep pace with Maye and the Patriots. Expect a late possession to decide a 26-23 Raiders win. Check the Patriots Wire staff picks on Sunday morning to see if the rest of the staff agrees or disagrees with this pick.
