The New England Patriots reportedly made a move to boost their offensive line ahead of Sunday's 53-man roster deadline.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Patriots agreed to trade a 2027 sixth-round draft pick to the Minnesota Vikings for third-year offensive tackle Walter Rouse and a 2027 seventh-round pick.
The move came on the same day that the team placed backup swing tackle Marcus Bryant on injured reserve. Granted, Rouse hasn't had a lot of NFL game action, but he does add some experience to the unit. With Bryant out, rookie first-round draft pick Caleb Lomu would project as the top swing tackle in an emergency situation.
Rouse, a former sixth-round draft pick, contributed on 22 percent of the Vikings' offensive snaps in the seven
games that he appeared in last season. He was an expected cut candidate for Minnesota, but the Patriots opted to facilitate a trade to keep somebody else from grabbing him on waivers.
